Words are the means by which we know objects. But to know God, the supreme silence of the thought-free state is essential. To attain that thought-free state is the purpose of sadhana. One who tries to journey there by giving lectures will miss the path, for articulated speech is gross, and the gross can never grasp the subtle. Birth and death both take place in silence. Silence is true life. Talking to others can be useful, but it will never reveal one’s true nature, for that can be known only when one completely lets go of duality. There is no point in merely forgetting words; one must forget duality.
